Axia rocks radio in Rome - 3 more stations upgrade to IP-Audio
7 July 2008, Cleveland Ohio, USA
Three more high-profile broadcasters in Rome, Italy have upgraded to Axia IP-Audio networks.
Radio Globo is the most listened-to CHR station in Rome; Talk station Radio Radio is operated by Radio Roma Nord, one of Italy’s largest broadcasters; and Radio Centro Suono Sport features continuous sports talk and event coverage. All have chosen Axia Element consoles and routing equipment as the basis for new rebuilds of their studios in Rome, following the deployment of Axia at Funkhaus Südtirol for Radio Südtirol1 in Bolzano, Italy earlier this year — one of the largest Axia installations in Europe.
Axia’s representatives in Italy, FEEL SRL. (www.feel.it), will provide integration and installation services for these projects. “These are some of Rome’s most-listened-to radio stations,” says FEEL’s Mario Baratto. “Broadcasters are discovering how much easier it is to build studios with IP-Audio. I think that more and more Axia networks will be built because of this.”
More than 1,000 studios worldwide are now on-the-air with Axia IP-Audio systems, which allow broadcasters to build audio networks of any size using standard switched Ethernet to connect a few rooms, or an entire facility. Axia networks have a total system capacity of more than 10,000 audio streams, and can carry hundreds of digital stereo channels over a single CAT-6 cable, eliminating much of the cost normally associated with wiring labor and infrastructure.
Axia Products include the popular Element modular broadcast console, a family of “audio nodes” that allow easy mixing and matching of digital, analog and microphone audio, and a comprehensive suite of network administration and routing control software.
