Omnia-6HDFM Provides Clean, Clear Audio for Digital Broadcasters
12 September 2003, Amsterdam, the Netherlands
DRM and Eureka-equipped radio stations are being heard across Europe, and now broadcasters considering the move to digital radio can experience the stunning fidelity and range of FM DAB at this year’s IBC Convention in Amsterdam, courtesy of Omnia Audio. IBC attendees can hear live demonstrations of DAB using new Omnia-6HDFM audio processors.
“DAB is exciting,” says Omnia Audio President Frank Foti. “We've listened quite closely to the differences between FM DAB and traditional analog transmissions; potentially, DAB can deliver audio fidelity that’s head-and-shoulders above conventional FM. That’s why we’ve developed Omnia-6HDFM – a processing system tailored to the unique requirements of digital broadcasting."
The DAB demonstrations will feature Omnia-6HDFM, a powerful dual-output, combination DAB/IBOC + conventional FM audio processor that permits simultaneous processing of audio for both digital and analog audio chains. Visitors to the displays can hear both systems to help evaluate the differences between traditional FM and DAB broadcasting.
Omnia-6HDFM users profitfrom Omnia’s years of deep involvement with DAB and IBOC. In the US, formal testing with USA Digital Radio and Lucent Digital Radio began in 1998; today, Omnia processors are key components of iBiquity IBOC tests conducted with broadcasters throughout the US. In Europe and Asia, many high profile Eureka-equipped stations and network broadcasters use Omnia.
Omnia audio processors are used by VirginRadio, NRJ, The BBC, Deutsche Telekom, RTL and Skyrock, and are the choice of more than half of the Top 100-rated radio stations in the U.S. IBC attendees can hear Omnia-6HDFM demonstrations in the Broadcast Electronics stand (# 8.389) and in the Nautel Ltd. stand (#5.131).
