Telos makes IP remotes for broadcast even more reliable
Announces service enhancements to worldwide Z/IP Server service

25 March 2013, Cleveland Ohio, USA

When Telos announced the first Zephyr/IP codec in 2007, it had a companion: the Z/IP Server, a "rendezvous server that keeps track of units" online presence, allowing Z/IP owners to get around the stumbling blocks presented by connecting to codecs located behind corporate firewalls, or have dynamically assigned IP addresses, or are subject to LAN Network Address Translation (NAT).

Telos Z/IP Server automatically tracks users' online status and IP address information, making connections to other Zephyr/IP codecs as simple as selecting from an onscreen "address book". Thousands of Z/IP owners have enjoyed millions of hassle- free connections to other Z/IPs worldwide thanks to Z/IP Server.

Now Telos is expanding its Z/IP Server service, bringing new server nodes online in multiple locations worldwide to further enhance the reliability and performance of the Z/IP Server system; presence and status information will be pooled among the multiple Z/IP Server locations, assuring easy connectivity with other Z/IP users and studios around the world.

"For years now, Z/IP owners have been raving about how easy it is to connect for IP remotes, thanks to Z/IP Server," says Telos VP / Executive Director Kirk Harnack. "Now we're increasing the reliability and availability of this service. Z/IP ONE users will be able to choose the closest Z/IP Server, but still have the option to connect to an alternate node when needed. This will really lower ping times and maximize redundancy. And the best part is - it's still free."

Telos will begin deploying new Z/IP Server locations in the third quarter of 2013.

The Telos Z/IP ONE IP codec is the premiere codec for broadcasters desiring to transmit program-quality remote audio using public IP links. Telos is the trusted world leader for IP and ISDN codecs, broadcast telephony and streaming audio; visitors to NAB in Las Vegas, 8 - 11 April 2013, can see the entire family of Telos codecs, telephone systems for POTS, ISDN and VoIP, and streaming audio solutions at the Telos Alliance display in the LVCC Central Hall, Booth C3007.
