Axia Audio and Broadcast Electronics Announce Collaboration

AudioVAULT, other BE products to offer IP-Audio connectivity

27 March 2006, Cleveland, OH USA

Axia, the networked-audio division of Telos Systems, has announced an agreement with Broadcast Electronics Inc. (www.bdcast.com), makers of the world-renowned AudioVAULT® digital audio system.

At the heart of the partnership is a licensing arrangement that adds Axia’s IP-Audio Driver to AudioVAULT® and other BE broadcast products. When implemented, this will allow users to send multiple channels of real-time, uncompressed digital audio over Ethernet-based Axia IP-Audio Networks without the use of PC sound cards. In addition, Broadcast Electronics will become an Axia value-added reseller, making available the full line of Axia audio networking components to AudioVAULT clients.

“Axia Audio offers the only audio networking technology designed from the ground up for radio,” says Neil Glassman, Vice President of Strategic Marketing for Broadcast Electronics. “Providing Axia Livewire™ connectivity to AudioVAULT studio automation, Big Pipe STL and other BE products provides our customers with new system configuration possibilities, as well as greater efficiency and reliability.”

Axia President Michael Dosch comments “BE is one of our industry's most innovative companies, so their interest in IP-Audio is not surprising. Some Axia clients are already using BE's Big Pipe to transport IP-Audio over Ethernet for STL applications. Now, BE's AudioVAULT family will be able to communicate directly to Axia IP-Audio networks as well.”

“We are certain this partnership will lead to even more interesting ideas in the future,” adds Dosch.

With this agreement, Broadcast Electronics joins a large list of Axia partners offering products that integrate with Axia IP-Audio networks. In addition to the soundcard-eliminating IP-Audio driver, the Axia system includes a family of audio networking devices that employ standard switched Ethernet to simplify studio infrastructure and reduce costs. Axia Microphone Nodes, Analog Line Nodes and AES/EBU Nodes, along with DSP mixing engines and the popular Element and SmartSurface Studio Control Surfaces allow broadcasters to construct sophisticated audio routing and switching networks for up to 33% less than traditional hard-wired routing systems.
