Axia showcases new consoles at BCA

Award-winning new iQ, Radius IP mixers make Broadcast Asia debut

Axia Audio, the networked-audio division of Telos, will bring its two newest IP consoles to Broadcast Asia 2011, to be held 21-24 June at Suntec Singapore.

Axia’s new Radius and iQ consoles make IP-Audio more affordable than ever, offering big-console capabilities, and networking features at the lowest prices ever for IP consoles.

Radius, a compact networked mixing desk with four stereo buses, eight faders, 16 audio I/O ports and an Ethernet switch with Gigabit, will retail for just $5,990 USD. iQ, a full-featured four-bus IP console (also with built-in I/O and Ethernet switch) is available in sizes from 8 to 24 faders. A 16-fader iQ carries a list price of just $9,985 USD, while an 8-fader iQ lists for only $7,990. iQ consoles can be customized with expansion frames that add more faders, phone controls, and programmable user keys.

Both Radius and iQ plug into self-contained Integrated Console Engines, fanless, convection-cooled console CPUs with audio I/O, logic, mix engine, power supply and Ethernet switch.

“iQ and Radius consoles are engineered as standalone consoles, fully self-contained, but they have networking capabilities too,” explains Axia Marketing Manager Clark Novak. “And while their pricing makes them the most affordable IP consoles ever, we didn’t leave out important features just to hit a price point. Instead, our console designers packed in as much power and as many features as possible, while still keeping the price low. Judging from the reaction we’re getting from clients, iQ and Radius are going to be very popular!”

Thanks to their combination of big features and small price, iQ and Radius are ideal standalone consoles. However, their built-in Ethernet switches make quick work of connecting to existing Axia networks: Simple Networking allows up to 4 consoles to be daisy-chained before an external Ethernet switch is needed.

Axia radio consoles are a hit, with installations in over 2,000 studios worldwide. Axia allows broadcasters to quickly and easily build audio networks using switched Ethernet to connect a few rooms, or an entire facility. Axia networks have a total system capacity of more than 10,000 audio streams, and can carry hundreds of digital stereo channels (plus machine logic and PAD) over a single CAT-6 cable, eliminating much of the cost normally associated with wiring labor and infrastructure.
