Moody Radio inaugurates Axia in Alabama

28 July 2009, Cleveland Ohio, USA

Moody Radio (www.moodyradio.org), the broadcasting division of the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, has flipped the “on” switch to its new Axia-powered studios in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The Axia IP-Audio network installed at 100,000-watt WMFT-FM in Tuscaloosa includes three Element 2.0 mixing consoles (20-, 12- and 8-position), plus mixing engines, Audio Nodes and PathfinderPC® Router Control Software.

Moody chose Axia “to make our studios as functional yet cost effective as possible,” says Moody Radio Director of Engineering Mark Williames. “Our new Axia studio build feeds 4 different transmitter sites – WMFT, WMBV, WMBU and WRNF – via C-band satellite around Alabama.”

Element 2.0, the latest version of Axia’s popular modular broadcast console, has become a best-seller; in just 5 short years, over 1,500 Axia consoles have been placed on-air around the world.

The Axia IP-Audio system allows broadcasters to build audio networks of any size using standard switched Ethernet to connect a few rooms, or an entire facility. Axia networks have a total system capacity of more than 10,000 audio streams, and can carry hundreds of digital stereo (or nearly a hundred surround) channels over a single CAT-6 cable, eliminating much of the cost normally associated with wiring labor and infrastructure.
