Omnia Audio Processing Debuts in Sri Lanka

23 December, 2002, Cleveland Ohio, USA

Sri Lanka’s premiere radio broadcaster, TNL 101.7 (www.tnlradio.com) will be the first radio station in Sri Lanka to introduce Omnia digital audio processing, according to Sound & Vision Pvt. Ltd., Omnia Audio’s Sri Lankan representative.

As the first private radio station in Sri Lanka, TNL is widely considered one of Asia’s pioneering radio stations, with many “firsts” to its credit. In 1994, TNL became the first station in Asia to broadcast over the Internet; in 1997, TNL was honored with the NAB’s International Broadcasting Excellence Award – the first Asian station to win this prestigious award.

“TNL considers the introduction of the Omnia-6fm to be a major advantage in the highly competitive radio market in Sri Lanka,” says Sound & Vision’s Niraj Wickremesinghe.

“In fact, we’re seeing Omnia receive major attention here,” continues Wickremesinghe. “Sri Lanka is much in the news these days. After over 20 years of fighting, there has been peace on the island for ten months. One of the results of the peace talks is that the rebels have received government permission to have their own radio station. The station equipment has just arrived, and amongst it are Omnia audio processors! It appears that if there is one thing everyone in Sri Lanka agrees on, it’s Omnia.”
