Telos VX, the world?s first broadcast VoIP talkshow system, is quickly becoming the new standard for multi-line, multi-studio phone installations. VX can manage up to 20 studios, with up to 48 active calls at once, connecting to POTS, ISDN or SIP trunking services.

More than 100 facilities have already been upgraded to VX as broadcasters take advantage of the benefits of a true VoIP-based studio phone system. Radio pros say they love the clean, clear caller audio, the ability to reassign lines to different studios instantly, and the ease of use of VX?s smart new VSet phone controllers.

Now the family of VX products expands, with the introduction of two additional phone devices, Vset6 and VSet1, to give stations even more flexibility in working with calls and callers. "VX users rave about their VSet12 phones," says Telos Product Manager Kirk Harnack. "They love the big color displays and the animated icons. Operators can tell instantly what?s going on with lines and callers. But some of them told us that they?d like phones for smaller studios, where 12 lines simply weren?t needed. So we developed VSet6 and VSet1 just for them."

Like their big brother, the VSet12, the six-line Vset6 and single-line VSet1 phonesets have a big, bright LCD color display with exclusive Telos Status SymbolsTM to keep talent informed of line and caller status. When used with VX Producer call screening software, the VSet display also delivers detailed information such as Caller ID, time ringing-in or on-hold, and even screener comments from the VX Producer software application. All VSet phones are conveniently powered by PoE (Power over Ethernet) from a Telos-approved switch, a PoE port on an Axia console engine, or from the power injector included with each unit.

• VSet6 is a beautiful six-linephoneset with a bright, attractive LCD color display. Animated Status Symbols icons feed talent instant information about line and caller status. Controls let talent step through queued calls, busy incoming lines, lock calls on-air, start an external recording device, even map groups of lines to a single fader, making it simple to take a queue of calls to air sequentially.

  

• VSet1 gives single-line access to VX systems. It?s perfect for news booths or production facilities where multiple lines are not required. It has a big LCD color display just likeitssiblings, so that users can intuitively navigate through available options, see Caller ID info and screener comments, et cetera.

  

The VX system has also been winning high praise for its ability to deliver very high fidelity caller audio, thanks to native support for the G.722 audio codec - sometimes called "HD Audio."

G.722 allows stations with SIP Trunking to receive 7kHz audio from callers utilizing SIP clients such as iPhone?s Acrobits app, or SipDroid for Android phones, while connected to 3G or 4G cellular networks. G.722 uses about the same amount of bandwidth as G.711, but samples audio at 16kHz ? double that of G.711. The result: much better speech quality from callers using cell phones with SIP clients. Some VX clients are even using G.722 with "wideband" SIP phones to get high-quality news, traffic and weather from news bureaus or off-site talent, without the cost of ISDN.

VX comes with advanced audio tools which ensure that calls always sound their best. Famous Telos Digital Dynamic EQ, Smart AGC, and a three-band adaptive spectral processor produce superior caller audio. Send audio gets sweetened, too, courtesy of an AGC/limiter, frequency shifter, and FhG?s Advanced Echo Cancellation routines that eliminate echo and feedback in open-mic environments. VX connects easily to LivewireTM networks via Ethernet, and to standard studio systems via analog or AES audio interfaces.

Each VX system supports up to 100 control devices, and users can choose from a variety of ways to take command of their phones:

• Beautiful VSet12, VSet6 and VSet1 phones, with LCD color displays and Status Symbols icons.
• VX Producer software, which includes a built-in SoftPhone that turns any PC with a sound card and headset/mic into a full-featured call screening station with off-air recording features.
• Call Controller modules for Axia Element 2.0 and iQ consoles allow direct control of VX hybrids right from the mixing board, so talent never has to take their eyes off the console in order to work the phones.
