Longtime Axia Audio partner DAVID Systems has just announced new versions of their signature software solutions that boost integration with Axia systems to new levels.

DAVID Systems’ playout family, which includes TurboPlayer Pro, TurboPlayer Cart, TurboPlayer Lite and TurboPlayer News, now integrates even more closely with Axia Audio’s Livewire protocol, enabling users of Axia consoles to control playout at the touch of a button. Additionally, users of DAVID’s MultiTrack Editor (MTE) and database manager (DBM) products now have remote control of recording operations through Axia mixing consoles. DAVID Systems’ partnership with Axia has gained them extensive experience with IP-Audio technology at many installations, such as northern Italy’s Radio Tirol, which has used Axia consoles in conjunction with DAVID Systems products since 2008.

“Cooperation with Axia Audio fits with our vision of bringing media services to the enterprise IT backbone,” says Vincent Benveniste, DAVID Systems CEO. “The combination of our playout family and Axia’s broadcast consoles offers an attractive, easy to deploy and easy to use solution for different levels of workflows, and provides our customers with the flexibility and cost effectiveness they aspire to. “

“DAVID Systems has really deepened the level of integration between studio hardware and software,”says Axia marketing manager Clark Novak. “Why shouldn’t the playout system have full command of
the broadcast console’s functions and hardware? The engineers at DAVID understand the benefits of this level of interoperation and are working hard to make these benefits available to broadcasters.”

Axia Software Partners can bundle the Axia IP-Audio Driver for Windows with their audio delivery systems, helping broadcasters reduce cost and cabling in-studio by eliminating the soundcards used in editing workstations and other PC-based playout systems. 32- and 64-bit Windows operating systems are supported, enabling users to connect their audio workstation and playout PCs directly to their Axia networks via Ethernet — no discrete audio I/O or logic cabling needed. The Axia IP-Audio Driver is available in two versions: the standard version with one stereo output and one stereo input; and the OEM version available from Axia partners, which provides 24 bi-directional stereo channels.

Axia Audio is the world's most popular IP-Audio networking system for broadcast. Over 4,000 studios are on-air using Axia Livewire technology; more than 25,000 connected devices, such as codecs, audio processors, phone systems, and digital delivery systems, are in the field. Axia networks have a total system capacity of more than 10,000 audio streams, and can carry hundreds of digital stereo channels (plus machine logic and PAD) over a single CAT-6 cable, eliminating much of the cost normally associated with wiring labor and infrastructure.

Over 40 Axia partners, including companies such as Nautel, AudioScience, International Datacasting, 25-Seven Systems, and Studer, now make broadcast equipment that connects using the Livewire standard. For a complete list of Axia Partners, visit AxiaAudio.com/partners/.

Axia also supports the high-performance RAVENNA IP-Audio standard, which is backed by companies like Genelec, Neumann, Sonifex, Merging Technologies and Lawo. For further information please visit ravenna.alcnetworx.com .
