Linear Acoustic to Showcase New Products at NAB 2013
Linear Acoustic® will showcase its brand new AERO.2000™ Audio/Loudness Manager and LQ-1™ Loudness Meter at this year's NAB Show in the Las Vegas Convention Center's North Hall, Booth N3438.
The AERO.2000 is the successor to the highly successful AERO.air™, and includes AEROMAX® loudness control with patented Linear Acoustic Intelligent Dynamics™ hybrid metadata processing for proven loudness control, industry-standard upmixing via UPMAX® II with fulltime downmix, optional Dolby® encoding/decoding and Nielsen® Watermarking, plus extensive I/O features.
AERO.2000 supports up to 16 audio channels in two independent instances – 5.1+2+Local and 2+2+Local – providing a high degree of program configuration flexibility, and includes ITU-R BS.1770-3 metering for loudness monitoring for all programs. Professional audio metadata can be applied to minimize processing and control functions, or traditional processing and upmixing can be employed.
A comprehensive TCP/IP remote control is included, giving users the ability to set up, adjust, and display all AERO.2000 parameters including loudness metering, Dolby Digital (AC-3) statistics, and even return audio (network speed permitting). The software can connect to multiple AERO.2000 units simultaneously, a major convenience for anyone who oversees multiple stations in different locations. A built-in http server provides access to metering logs.
AERO.2000 includes AES and HD/SD-SDI I/O, compensating video delay, and redundant power supplies as standard features. Dolby Digital encoding, Dolby Digital/Dolby E decoding, and Nielsen Watermarking are optional.
The Linear Acoustic LQ-1 Loudness Meter will also be featured at this year's show. Designed for simplicity and accuracy, the LQ-1 supports ITU-R BS.1770-1/2/3 loudness metering standards and includes selectable Dolby® Dialogue Intelligence™ automatic speech gating. The resulting metered value agrees with standards and recommended practices such as ATSC A/85 and EBU R128 and accurately reflects listener perception.
Signal levels are clearly displayed alongside measured loudness and dialnorm metadata, giving instant verification of loudness compliance.
Audio can be extracted from an applied HD/SD-SDI signal or from the AES, TOSLINK™ optical, or balanced analog inputs. The unit also supports DVB-ASI and can extract a selected PID from an applied MPEG transport stream for decoding and measurement.
A selectable LtRt or LoRo downmixed output is available from AES and analog balanced outputs and via the front panel headphone connector. Metadata emulation and Associated Dialogue (AD or Visual Descriptive) mixing can also be auditioned on the downmixed output.
Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, and Dolby E decoding are standard along with GPI/O support for alarms and control. Options include an external redundant power supply and SNMP for system monitoring or logging via Ethernet.
Other Linear Acoustic offerings on display will include the AERO.one™ Audio/Loudness Manager, AERO.lite™ Stereo Loudness Controller, AERO.mobile™ Audio/Loudness Manager for Mobile DTV, LQ-1000™ Loudness Quality Monitor, LAMBDA™ Digital Audio and Metadata Monitor, UPMAX™ 5.1-Channel Upmixer, LA-5269 Dolby Digital/Plus Transcoder, LA-5280™ Professional Audio Codec, and MT2000™ Bitstream Analyzer.
Select products will also be featured in the nearby ATSC booth (N2837) and in the Central Hall at the Telos, Omnia, 25-Seven, and Axia booth (C3007).
