Omnia Introduces New Audio Processors at NAB 2002

8 April 2002, Las Vegas, NV USA

The popular line of Omnia digital audio processors is expanding once again, with two new offerings for AM and FM broadcasters. These newest members of the Omnia family – Omnia-4.5fm and Omnia-4.5am – make their debut at NAB 2002 in Las Vegas.

Designed for competitive broadcasters, Omnia-4.5 provides premium features and signature Omnia sound. Like the market-leading Omnia-6fm audio processor, Omnia-4.5 implements the latest DSP technology, giving Omnia-4.5 users incredibly clean sound with amazing competitive loudness.

Omnia-4.5 features 96 kHz processing with 24-bit dynamic range, the highest sampling rate found in any broadcast audio processor. A five-band limiter and smooth, precise two-band AGC give users maximum control, and algorithms designed to address the specific needs of AM and FM broadcasters provide the flexibility and power top broadcasters demand to precisely sculpt a station's signature sound. As with all Omnia processors, Omnia-4.5 includes an exclusive plug-in software architecture that simplifies software updates.

“With the overwhelming success of Omnia-6 in top markets such as New York, London and Munich, broadcasters in less affluent markets asked us to build an audio processor tailored to their unique competitive circumstances,” explains Telos Systems President Frank Foti. “Judging by the reaction of clients now using Omnia-4.5, I’d say we hit a home run.”

As intuitive and user-friendly as the rest of the Omnia line, Omnia-4.5 also features PCMCIA slots to store, retrieve and share custom settings, Ethernet, dial-up and RS-232 remote-control capabilities, and an intelligent, full-color display with easy set-up and intuitive operations.

Omnia-4.5fm and Omnia-4.5am are DAB ready and ITU BS-412 compliant; they feature extensive bass enhancement capabilities, digital I/O with automatic sample rate conversion and a pilot-protected distortion canceling composite clipper. FM models include optional stereo enhancement capability and an integrated digital stereo generator.

Omnia-4.5 is now shipping worldwide. Omnia-4.5fm carries a U.S. MSRP of $7,580.00; Omnia-4.5am lists at $6,980.00.

The debut of the Omnia-4.5 models marks the 12th new product released by Omnia since 1998. To hear it for yourself, visit the Telos Systems / Omnia booth at the NAB, Booth L2251 in the Las Vegas Convention Center Radio Hall.
