Just when broadcasters thought on-air audio processing couldn’t get better or louder and “new and improved” meant more of the same, Omnia Audio introduced the new Omnia.11 audio processor at NAB 2010. It’s a complete re-think of broadcast processing five years in the making.

The goal – restore the quality and cleanliness to a station’s sound that’s often lost with heavy processing, without any sacrifice in loudness. The signature winning Omnia sound is still there, but every stage of processing and the hardware platform itself is all new. Was the goal achieved? The panel of judges for all three major radio publications say a resounding YES!

“We went into this year’s NAB with something major. Cool Stuff, Pick Hit, and techINK Innovation awards... incredible! It’s testimony to the hard work and dedication of the entire team of Omnia engineers,” says Frank Foti, president and founder of Omnia. “You have my personal guarantee that you will hear a dramatic improvement from the moment you fire this baby up.”

Radio competes with iPods and MP3 players for listening time. The industry can no longer afford to broadcast highly distorted sound in the pursuit of loudness. We spent a long time developing this lean mean processing machine to achieve both loudness and clean sound from new already over-limited material, hip-hop, urban, rap, rock, country, classical, talk, religious, or anything else. Omnia.11 gives punch, power and girth without the nasty side effects.
At NAB, everyone who heard Omnia.11 was blown away, totally floored by the clarity and punch it gives to highly compressed audio. They knew a new era in audio processing had begun, where radio and streaming broadcasts are no longer tarnished by overly harsh and muddy audio from traditional processing. If a broadcaster wants to put back the heart and soul into a program while still offering competitive loudness, Omnia.11 is the processor of his dreams.

Radio World “Cool Stuff” Award

Radio World’s “Cool Stuff” award-winning products are selected each year by a panel of radio broadcast engineers who evaluate equipment notable for design, features, cost efficiency and performance in serving radio broadcast users. Only 22 products were chosen from among the thousands of new products on display at the convention.

Radio World (www.radioworld.com) is the definitive information resource for radio managers and engineers, covering technology, industry news, management techniques, applications-oriented engineering, production articles and new product information.

Radio Ink “techINK's Innovation Award”

The techINK 2010 Innovation Awards represent the best and brightest technical innovations for newly introduced products, services, or technologies for the radio industry. The awards were determined by techINK's Editorial Advisory Board, a group of well-known radio engineering leaders from around the world. Winners were judged on the criterion of fulfilling radio broadcast applications in a uniquely useful fashion.

techInk is a monthly section of Radio Ink magazine that offers insightful coverage of the radio technology industry, written for both radio managers and engineers.

Radio magazine “Pick Hit Award”

“The Pick Hit Awards are limited to 15 winners,” says Chriss Scherer, editor of Radio magazine. “In addition, the Pick Hit Award judges follow a strict set of rules and make their selections independently and anonymously, which is a further testimony to the proven value of the award to radio broadcasters.” The official Pick Hit rules require that the winning products must fit a recognized need in radio, are priced within reason, are available within the current calendar year and have never before been exhibited at the NAB Convention.
