SmartSurface provides expanded control of radio studio functions
23 April 2001, Las Vegas, NV 2001
Telos Systems, Cleveland, USA-based manufacturers of DSP-based broadcast studio equipment, has unveiled the new SmartSurface studio control surface at the NAB Convention in Las Vegas.
SmartSurface is a control system designed to exploit the capabilities of today’s leading mixing/routing engines and computer-based audio applications. Bearing a slight resemblance to traditional on-air consoles, SmartSurface provides many familiar controls to operators, while providing new functions. By integrating management of most devices used in the radio studio during on-air or production activities, near-complete control is provided for mixing, routing, playback, recording, editing, phone control, remote (codec) operation and more.
“SmartSurface is designed to fully exploit the power and capabilities of today’s most advanced digital audio routing and mixing engines and pc-based audio applications,” says Telos Systems Managing Director Michael Dosch, “while providing a more flexible and intuitive operator interface for fast-paced radio shows.”
