Telos Systems is demonstrating their new Audioactive ProFiler automated program archiving software at NAB 2001 in Las Vegas. Running on a standard PC under Windows 2000 or NT4, ProFiler boasts set-and-forget automatic broadcast logging and skimming at a price point under $1,500 (US).

“Radio stations that wish to keep an ongoing record of their broadcasts due to legal requirements, government mandate or otherwise can now do so using a standard PC,” says Telos Systems Managing Director Michael Dosch. “Until now, logging devices have either been expensive hardware solutions or old-fashioned tape decks. ProFiler makes program logging cost-effective for stations in markets of all sizes.”

Audioactive ProFiler logs program audio to time-annotated files using industrystandard MP3 compression with a range of bitrates. Users can choose to store logged audio on a local hard drive or on a webserver, LAN or WAN for remote auditioning of logged content. Automatic tape backup of logfiles is supported with third-party storage drives.

In addition to logging, ProFiler also incorporates skimming functions, enabling quick assembly of “telescoped” airchecks, and features a unique “soft-skim” mode that logs at high compression rates during musical selections or syndicated content, and switches to low compression, high-quality skimming when talent mics are opened.
