Telos spotlights reliable remotes over public IP networks at NAB 2013
Kirk Harnack to deliver technical paper at Broadcast Engineering Conference

20 March 2013, Cleveland Ohio, USA

Telos Systems VP / Executive Director Kirk Harnack, a 30-year broadcast engineering veteran well-known for his "This Week in Radio Tech" webcast, will present a white paper at the 2013 NAB Broadcast Engineering Conference aimed at helping broadcasters increase the stability of their Internet remotes.

In his presentation, "Audio Reliability over the Public Internet: Designing Robust IP Streaming for Outside Broadcasts, STL, and Program Distribution", Mr. Harnack will examine the ways that IP remotes can be degraded by the conditions that affect public IP links — and will then offer proven ways that broadcasters can plan for and counteract these conditions.

"One of the challenges in transferring audio programming over IP networks, especially the Public Internet, is data loss caused by random packet loss and varying latency or jitter," states Harnack. "There are any number of conditions that may cause these problems to occur. My presentation is designed to help broadcasters first identify the specific problem they're experiencing, and then present technical solutions that will counteract that problem, so that their IP remotes can be as smooth and error-free as a traditional remote connection."

Kirk will present his paper at the Broadcast Engineering Conference of NAB 2013 on Sunday, April 7, at 1:00 PM in Room S227 of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
